Kopp unveils MRI incident log manager

Ferromagnetic detector developer Kopp Development is releasing a new accessory designed to provide automated documenting of ferromagnetic incidents in MRI suites.

Intended to work with the company's newest FerrAlert Halo II Plus entryway system, the Ferromagnetic Incident Log Manager (FILM) is located at the doorway of an MRI suite, continuously capturing images and allowing simultaneous viewing both inside the magnet room and of approaches to the room.

If a ferromagnetic object passes through FerrAlert, a signal is generated and sent to the FILM device, which stores images to preserve the history leading up to the event. It also records actions by staff taken after the threat detection.

Kopp believes that FILM will help MRI sites comply with standards issued by the Joint Commission regarding the documentation of ferromagnetic materials that enter MRI scanner rooms.
