Biotronik brings Ilivia ICDs to Japan

Biomedical device firm Biotronik said that its MR-conditional Ilivia implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) are now available in Japan.

Japan is the first commercial market for the Ilivia line, which features Biotronik's ProMRI and MRI AutoDetect technologies, the company said. With MRI AutoDetect, cardiologists can activate a special window lasting up to 14 days in which a cardiac device's functionality is maintained until the patient is undergoing the MRI scan. The device switches into MRI mode automatically, with all device functionality restored once the scan is complete, Biotronik said.
