Hitachi ships software upgrade for Oasis 1.2-tesla MRI

Hitachi Medical Systems America has begun shipping Evolution 5, its latest software upgrade for the Oasis 1.2-tesla MRI system. Beginning this month, the software is available to installed Oasis customers.

Originally shown at RSNA 2015, the Evolution 5 package offers many new features and improvements to boost the performance of Oasis, Hitachi said. Users will see improved image sharpness and clarity with the integration of Evolution 5's enhanced image processing algorithm, known as Vivid, and its optimized fast spin-echo (opFSE) pulse sequence.

Several other features also add new diagnostic capabilities to the company's portfolio of MRI applications, including the firm's Radar time-of-flight and gradient echo motion compensation feature, diffusion with multiple b-values, and Hitachi's T2* RelaxMap for liver iron quantification, according to the company.

The upgrade is free to all of the firm's warranty and service contract customers, Hitachi said. It will also conduct upgrade workshops between August and October in major U.S. cities. The one-day upgrade workshops will train Oasis operators on the benefits of Evolution 5 and provide continuing education credits for participating attendants.
