Flying wheelchair shuts down MRI scanner in China

Staff in the MRI suite at Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital in China recently had to deal with a flying wheelchair that shut down the scanner after it attached itself to the magnet, according to a July 7 report on ejinsight.com.

The article cited a Weibo post stating that a patient's family member ignored medical staff and brought the wheelchair into the MRI suite.

The hospital denied a report by eastday.com that the person responsible for the incident was asked to pay for damages, but the website Netizen reported the allegedly guilty person was liable for damages estimated to be as much as 3 million yuan ($448,000 U.S.).
