Mediso unveils new MRI systems at EANM

Nuclear imaging firm Mediso Medical Imaging Systems has launched new MRI subsystems with 3- and 7-tesla field strengths at the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) annual congress.

The cryogen-free technology will be integrated into the nanoScan preclinical multimodality imaging platform, the firm said.

Mediso recently signed an exclusive agreement with Superconducting Systems for the supply of the magnets. The magnets have a small footprint, low weight, and low magnetic stray field, which eliminates the need for liquid helium, according to Superconducting Systems.

Mediso also signed a strategic collaboration agreement with RS2D, an MRI system developer, to create a new line of MRI subsystems. The systems will be offered as standalone MRI scanners or in combination with high-end PET modules, which opens the door for PET/MRI systems with simultaneous data acquisition capability, Mediso said.

The systems will be available as an upgrade package for existing 1-tesla PET/MRI and SPECT/MRI scanners, according to the company.
