Group to offer free brain scans in Wash. DC

The Brain Tumor Foundation plans to offer free brain MRI scans to the public from September 12-18 in Washington, DC.

The stop is part of a nationwide initiative the foundation calls the Road to Early Detection Sponsor-a-City Campaign, designed to support the early detection of brain tumors.

The scans will be performed in a 70-ft mobile MRI trailer, and the data will be analyzed at Columbia University Medical Center and the Mailman School of Public Health in New York City.

The visit is being sponsored by a group called Friends of Joe in the memory of Joseph E. Robert Jr., a philanthropist and activist who died of a glioblastoma.
