NeoCoil debuts wireless MRI audio system

NeoCoil has unveiled Serenity, a wireless audio system that can be used with MRI scanners up to 3-tesla in strength.

Compatible with commercial audio players with a standard 3.5-mm audio output jack, Serenity provides for audio entertainment as well as patient-technologist communication without the need for pneumatic tubes, according to the company. The wireless audio system has a headset with a maximum noise reduction rating of 29 dB, enabling it to be used without additional earplugs at noise levels up to 128 dB, NeoCoil said.

In addition to the headset, Serenity also includes wireless earbuds for use during studies that employ a head coil. In addition, two headsets can be used simultaneously to allow healthcare personnel or patient family members to remain in the room and hear the same audio as the patient, NeoCoil said.
