MicroWave debuts MRI coil preamplifiers

Semiconductor manufacturer MicroWave Technology has unveiled two preamplifiers for MRI coils.

Designed for MRI coils with a large number of channels, MicroWave's new MSM series preamplifier comes in a package size of 0.43 x 0.36 inches, according to the vendor. It offers a 0.45-decibel noise figure and 28-decibel gain at 1.5-tesla (64 MHz), 3-tesla (123-128 MHz), and 7-tesla (298 MHz) frequencies, according to the vendor.

The company's other new amplifier, the MPE series, is targeted at the low-cost MRI coil market for 3-tesla (123-128 MHz) applications, MicroWave said. It has a noise figure as low as 0.4 decibels with a 27-decibel gain.
