Canadian radiologists donate for MRI purchase

Canadian radiologists have pledged $100,000 ($89,000 U.S.) to purchase and install a second MRI scanner at Kingston General Hospital in Ontario.

The radiologists' donation follows the same monetary contribution from the Kingston Lions Club as part of a $6 million Canadian ($5.4 million U.S.) fundraising project, according to a June 28 report in the Kingston Whig-Standard.

There are currently four MRI machines in the region, the article noted. There is one scanner already at Kingston General Hospital, two systems at Kingston MRI, and one unit in Belleville, Ontario.
