Toshiba gets FDA nod for 3T MRI upgrades

Toshiba America Medical Systems has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for a package of hardware and software upgrades for its Vantage Titan 3T MRI scanner.

The upgrades are available for new Titan 3T scanners and for systems installed in the field. The enhancements are designed to improve image quality and workflow in both the clinical and research settings, according to the company.

The upgrades include a new design for the company's Saturn gradients that increases performance and results in better image stability, as well as improvements in functional MRI performance.

Other upgrades are found in the company's mVox 3D isotropic imaging protocol, Time-SLIP arterial spin labeling protocol for noncontrast imaging of cerebral vascular circulation, 16-channel flex and medium large coils, and M-Power interface.
