MRI scanner installed in Palestine

A new MRI scanner has been installed at An-Najah National University Hospital in Nablus in Palestine.

Unveiled at a February 16 ceremony that marked the opening of the university's radiology department, the scanner will serve patients in the northern districts of the West Bank and will also serve a role in education and research. Another MRI scanner has been procured and installed at Alia Governmental Hospital in Hebron.

Both scanners are part of a project promoting the acquisition of new medical equipment in Palestine; the project has been supported in part by grant funding from Japan. Junya Matsuura, Japan's ambassador for Palestinian affairs and representative to the Palestinian Authority, participated in the opening ceremony in Nablus.
