IMRIS gets FDA nod for head fixation accessory

Image-guided therapy developer IMRIS has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its new neurosurgical head fixation device (HFD) rocker arm.

The accessory is designed to allow surgeons to stabilize, support, and position heads with varying cranial anatomy, sizes, and conditions using the firm's MRI-compatible HFD, IMRIS said. When attached to the HFD, the rocker arm helps reduce pressure on the individual contact points on the patient's skull, according to the vendor.
