Royal Philips, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, has announced the release of a new cardiac SPECT camera, CardioMD IV, at the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) annual meeting being held September 14-17.

CardioMD IV combines the company's SPECT technology with its advanced Astonish reconstruction algorithm and cardiac quantification software to improve workflow for cardiac imaging. The ultimate aim is to provide reliable imaging solutions that enhance diagnostic confidence and patient care, said Kirill Shalyaev, PhD, business leader of advanced molecular imaging at Philips.

CardioMD IV has been designed to fit in existing SPECT camera rooms without the need for major renovations, according to Philips. It also offers greater positioning flexibility as well as half-time cardiac imaging with the Astonish algorithm.
