Firms partner for Mo-99 production

National Security Technologies and Global Medical Isotope Systems (GMIS) announced they have formed a public-private partnership to produce molybdenum-99 (Mo-99).

Under the research and development agreement, National Security Technologies will provide technical integration, modeling, materials, and design support to GMIS, which will develop and deploy a scalable, standalone system to manufacture Mo-99, a precursor isotope to technetium-99m.

National Security Technologies will also contribute its staff of nuclear and health physicists and physics and electronics technicians, along with a variety of radiological materials and an inventory of radiation detection equipment.
