ACNM endorses end of CED for NaF-PET

The American College of Nuclear Medicine (ACNM) has thrown its support behind a proposal for national coverage of sodium fluoride (NaF) PET imaging in the U.S. and an end to the coverage with evidence development (CED) requirement for reimbursement.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is seeking public comments on a proposal to remove the requirement that imaging facilities using NaF-PET to identify bone metastasis must report results of the scans before they can be paid for the procedures.

ACNM is working with the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) to submit joint formal comments to CMS.
