Coquí signs Invap to design Mo-99 facility

Medical isotope firm Coquí RadioPharmaceuticals has tapped Argentinian nuclear engineering firm Invap to serve as designer and general contractor for its planned medical isotope production facility in Alachua, FL.

Coquí said it is working to become the first U.S. commercial producer of molybdenum-99 (Mo-99), the parent isotope of technetium-99m.

The firm is preparing its construction permit application for submission to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the facility, which will use open pool reactor technology.
