Positron finishes 1st strontium validation

PET vendor Positron said that its Manhattan Isotope Technology (MIT) subsidiary has successfully processed strontium at Positron's facility in Lubbock, TX, potentially paving the way for the firm's entry into the strontium-82 (Sr-82) radioisotope supply chain.

With internal analysis showing the product meets the Sr-82 purity specifications required for the formulation of Sr-82/Rb-82 (rubidium-82) generators, MIT will soon submit a drug master file to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), according to Positron. A second validation sample from the Arronax cyclotron facility in Nantes, France, is set for strontium processing later this month.
