NRC accepts Shine's isotope permit application

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has accepted for review the first part of medical isotope firm Shine Medical Technologies' construction permit application.

The application is the first step in the construction permit process for Shine's medical isotope facility in Janesville, WI, according to the firm. The complete application includes general information about Shine; an analysis of environmental impact from the construction and operation of the facility, if any; and a preliminary safety analysis.

This first section includes environmental analysis and general and financial information about Shine. The company filed the other portions of the preliminary analysis with the NRC on May 31, and they will be reviewed over the next few months, according to Shine.
