Lantheus launches LEU TechneLite generator

Diagnostic imaging agent developer Lantheus Medical Imaging has added a technetium-99m (Tc-99m) generator created using low-enriched uranium (LEU) technology to its nuclear imaging product portfolio.

The generator is the first Tc-99m generator in the U.S. that contains molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) produced from at least 95% low-enriched uranium. Lantheus can now move closer to its goal of eliminating Mo-99 produced from highly enriched uranium sources from its supply chain by 2016, according to the firm.

Lantheus shipped the first LEU-sourced Tc-99m generator on January 7.
