NC health system partners with GE on outcomes

GE Healthcare and Asheville, NC-based Mission Health have signed up for a 10-year partnership that will direct $40 million toward increasing healthcare efficiency and improving outcomes.

Mission Health is a regional integrated health system that includes a 730-bed, high-volume tertiary-care hospital. It is looking to balance clinical quality with significant cost savings system-wide, a challenge facing most healthcare systems in the U.S., it said.

The system hopes to save $40 million over 10 years by improving imaging efficiency, in part by enabling patients to make clear choices regarding costs and wait times and getting patients to the right exam at the right time.

At the same time, a care transitions initiative will use predictive modeling and other analytics to make sure patients receive the right care in the right setting with the right technology, the companies said.
