Rule for accessible imaging devices unveiled

The U.S. Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board has published a proposed rule to make medical diagnostic equipment more accessible for individuals with disabilities.

The proposal covers devices and accessories such as mammography and other imaging equipment, examination tables and chairs, and weight scales. The guidelines are mandated through Section 4203 of the Affordable Care Act.

The public can send its comments to the board until June 8. The panel will also host two hearings in the interim to collect additional feedback.
