ACR forms education committee for patient-centered care

The American College of Radiology (ACR) Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care has launched a new education committee to develop educational resources and tools for radiologists.

Chaired by Dr. Cheri Canon, the new committee will work closely with members of the ACR Commission on Education to expand educational offerings concerning patient-centered care for practicing radiologists, residents, and medical students, according to the ACR. Dr. Matthew Cham, chair of that commission's e-learning committee, serves as vice chair of the new committee.

Committee members developed the Radiologist's Toolkit for Patient- and Family-Centered Care and are also working with the Technology-Enhanced Appropriateness Criteria Home for Education Simulation (Radiology-TEACHES) online portal. Radiology-TEACHES uses case vignettes in the ACR Radiology Curriculum Management System integrated with the ACR Select clinical decision-support software to educate students in the process of appropriate ordering of imaging studies, the ACR said.
