Patient records from thousands of patients from a defunct radiology group in Richmond, VA, were recently found in a dumpster at a storage facility, according to a report from TV station WTVQ.
A man found 65 boxes filled with patient information such as Social Security and credit card numbers in a dumpster at rental facility in Richmond. The records were from Richmond Radiology, which closed in the early 2000s, according to the article.
The boxes were being disposed of because the storage container they had been in had been abandoned since July 2011 and someone wanted to rent the space, WTVQ reported.
