Christie signs breast density bill into law

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has signed the state's version of a breast density notification and insurance bill into law, his office announced.

The bill, S 792, requires insurers to cover breast evaluations and other additional medically necessary testing under certain circumstances, and it requires certain mammogram reports to contain information on breast density.

New Jersey is the 14th state to enact breast density notification legislation, bringing to 48% the number of U.S. women living in states with mandatory breast density notification, according to Density Education National Survivors' Effort (DENSE) co-founder JoAnn Pushkin.
