ASRT launches public awareness campaign

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has created a new program to help educate patients about the radiologic technologist's role in healthcare.

Called ACE, the campaign name is an acronym that comes from ASRT's advice to technologists: "Announce your name. Communicate your credentials. Explain what you're going to do."

Every ASRT member will receive materials to promote the profession and communicate with patients, including a poster for display in patient waiting rooms, exam areas, and dressing rooms.

Next month, ASRT members will receive cards that patients can use to record their medical imaging and radiation therapy exams.

ASRT is also asking members to participate in the campaign's Click to Commit initiative, in which radiologic technologists promise to incorporate the ACE campaign's educational materials and principles into their daily interactions with patients.
