ASRT taps life member, fellows

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) said it will award life member status to Barbara Hente and will name seven members as fellows during its upcoming Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting in Albuquerque, NM.

Hente, a nuclear medicine technologist for BarNor Services, joined ASRT in 1977 and has served in its House of Delegates as a Missouri affiliate delegate and Nuclear Medicine Chapter delegate. She also served as the society's representative on the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology for 12 years. Hente will be the 24th person to receive life member status since the program's inception in 1938.

In addition, the following new fellows were selected:

  1. Laura Aaron, PhD, head of the department of allied health and a professor of radiologic science at Northwestern State University in Shreveport, LA
  2. Mitzi Drey, radiology administrative coordinator at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD
  3. Catherine Kukec, life member of the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists
  4. Larry "Max" Maxwell, a CT technologist at Shadyside Hospital/Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh
  5. Diane Mayo, quality assurance coordinator for diagnostic imaging at St. Dominic Jackson-Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS
  6. Dawn McNeil, an assistant professor and chair of the radiography program at St. Catharine College in St. Catharine, KY
  7. Donna Newman, director of professional practice at the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists
