HeartFlow lands positive BCBS reviews

Cardiovascular software developer HeartFlow said that four Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance companies have issued positive medical policies on its fractional flow reserve CT (FFR-CT) analysis technology.

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Blue Cross of Idaho, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City have determined that the use of FFR-CT following a positive coronary CT angiogram is considered medically necessary to guide decisions about the use of invasive coronary angiography for its members with stable chest pain, HeartFlow said.

The firm also noted that several other payors, including Aetna, have recently issued positive coverage decisions as well.
