Richardson adds CT software to portfolio

Richardson Healthcare, a division of Richardson Electronics, has added the SafeCT-29 software from Medic Vision Imaging Solutions to its diagnostic imaging portfolio.

The application helps hospitals and imaging facilities avoid reimbursement penalties or having to invest in new equipment by giving them a non-OEM solution to comply with XR-29 guidelines. SafeCT-29 has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

SafeCT-29 meets the guidelines required by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) XR-29 Smart Dose standard for CT radiation dose optimization and management. The software is vendor-neutral and integrates with a CT scanner's existing configuration, using the system's own software to prevent scanning when radiation dose exceeds per-patient targets. Installation is completed within hours and requires minimal workflow interruption, the firm said.
