Philips adds on apps for CT iterative reconstruction

Philips Healthcare has announced new capabilities for its iterative model reconstruction (IMR) technology for CT data.

During this week's International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT (MDCT), the company said the benefits of IMR can now be realized beyond routine head and body imaging and applied to advanced neurological and cardiovascular applications.

Philips' first 510(k) submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for IMR was limited to body imaging, the firm said. With the second 510(k) clearance, IMR is now cleared for advanced applications such as neuro and cardiovascular imaging and dose reduction. This opens new clinical applications for model-based iterative reconstruction, according to Philips.
