AuntMinnie's IMV MarketStat #18: Distribution of radiology information systems

2003 01 06 18 18 20 706
2003 01 06 18 18 20 706 The RIS installed base is distributed among system types as follows:
  • 18% dedicated RIS.
  • 52% RIS interfaced to HIS.
  • 30% RIS that are part of a HIS.

  • Among hospital sites, the proportion of installed RIS networks that are interfaced with a HIS increases with hospital size, from 46% of specified systems in 100-199-bed hospitals to 64% in 400+ bed hospitals, with a corresponding decrease in the proportion of systems that are part of a HIS.

Nonhospital sites are more likely to have a dedicated RIS than are hospitals.

Data is based on responses to IMV's 2001 PACS Census Study of hospitals with 200+ beds, plus high-volume imaging sites in hospitals with 100-199 beds and nonhospital imaging centers.
