EOS launches 3D modeling service

Orthopedic digital imaging developer EOS Imaging has launched a new service in which it will create 3D models from stereographic images acquired with its digital x-ray system.

With the EOS 3D service, users of the company's EOS system will be able to send data from scans to the firm's Canadian subsidiary in Montreal, where the models will be created and returned to customers. The service is available for spine, hip, and knee exams and is designed to help physicians with treatment decisions and surgical planning, the company said. EOS will also provide 3D models of rib cages for research purposes as well as for the design of scoliosis braces.

EOS said it has already signed on the Setting Scoliosis Straight Foundation (SSSF) as a customer. SSSF supports the Harms Study Group in developing treatments for spinal deformities in children and adolescents, and the EOS 3D service will give surgeons with the group access to 3D data for patients undergoing scoliosis surgery.
