Sapheneia files for bankruptcy

Advanced visualization firm Sapheneia filed for bankruptcy on August 28.

Before filing, it changed its company name to Contact Imaging Sweden, according to the firm.

The filing comes after a prolonged patent dispute between the firm and image enhancement developer ContextVision. On July 12, the Stockholm District Court ruled that ContextVision is the owner of a key patent application that Sapheneia filed in September 2006. The court also ruled that Sapheneia should pay ContextVision's legal costs of 2.9 million Swedish kroner ($450,409 U.S.).

The administration of the company in bankruptcy has been taken over by a receiver, Sapheneia said.
