Mindray posts Q4, year-end revenue increases

Chinese medical equipment manufacturer Mindray Medical International of Shenzhen posted increases in its 2009 fourth-quarter and year-end financial results (end-December 31).

Revenues for the quarter increased 12.5%, from $167.9 million in 2008 to $188.8 million in 2009. Revenues generated in China in the fourth quarter of 2009 increased 20.4% to $87.5 million, from $72.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2008, while revenues generated in international markets in the fourth quarter of 2009 increased 6.4% to $101.3 million, from $95.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2008. Fourth-quarter 2009 net income was $37.4 million, compared with $31.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Revenues from the company's medical imaging systems segment increased 12.4% to $48.5 million, from $43.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2008. The medical imaging systems segment contributed 25.7% to the company's total net segment revenues in the fourth quarter of 2009.

As for the full year of 2009, revenues increased 15.8%, from $547.5 million in 2008 to $634.2 million. Full-year 2009 net income was $139.2 million, compared with $108.7 million in 2008, Mindray said.
