Ultrasound scanner bill introduced in CA

California Assembly member Ted Lieu has introduced legislation aimed at limiting the sale of ultrasound scanners in California to only licensed medical professionals.

Specifically, the bill (A.B. 2360) would prohibit a manufacturer or other person in California from selling, leasing, or otherwise distributing an ultrasound diagnostic imaging machine to any person other than a licensed physician or surgeon, or a licensed medical facility. A violation of the provision would be a misdemeanor, according to the bill.
