Analogic subsidiary B-K Medical has upgraded its Viking 2400 premium ultrasound system, which was debuted earlier this year at the Euroson 2003 congress in Copenhagen, Denmark. The system has undergone a general software upgrade and the addition of several transducers as well as the expansion of DICOM functionality and support for obstetric and gynecological scanning, according to the Herlev, Denmark-based vendor.
The software iteration improves the Viking 2400’s performance in vascular scanning, with improved color Doppler capability and support for the company’s type 8812 vascular transducer.
The obstetric and gynecological package features a wide range of transducers, including the firm’s new 8806 endovaginal endfire probe. The transducer has a range of scanning frequencies from 4-9MHz, permitting detailed images of large structures as well as fine details, making it possible to scan all kinds of patients, from thin to obese, B-K said.
