Visage Imaging sold to Australian IT firm

Advanced visualization firm Visage Imaging has been sold by its parent company, Mercury Computer Systems of Chelmsford, MA, Mercury announced.

Mercury signed an agreement and closed the sale of Visage Imaging of Carlsbad, CA, and its affiliate Visage Imaging GmbH to Australian healthcare IT firm Pro Medicus. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mercury launched Visage in August 2007 as a subsidiary to offer 2D, 3D, and 4D software to end users and OEMs. The company has 1,200 clients across Europe and the U.S.

Pro Medicus offers a range of enterprise-wide technology solutions to large medical corporations and individual medical group practices. The company plans to integrate Visage's client/server and PACS solutions, and its amira 3D visualization software with its own digital imaging portfolio that includes RIS packages.

The Visage deal also gives Pro Medicus additional distribution reach in Australia, the U.S., Canada, Europe, and parts of the Middle East. Pro Medicus said it will not need to raise any capital as part of the deal, which is expected to be accretive to earnings in the 2010 financial year.
