Merge reacquires China unit

Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare said it has reacquired its Cedara Software Shanghai (ShanghaiCo) unit.

The planned sale of ShanghaiCo to Inqgen Technology of Taipei, Taiwan, which was announced in March 2008 by former Merge executives but was never finalized, was terminated by mutual agreement by both parties, according to Merge of Milwaukee.

The company said the reacquisition, along with the termination of a planned divestiture of its European operations, positions the firm to execute on its global strategy. Merge OEM director of Asia business operations Zhong Wang will immediately assume management of the Shanghai operations.
