Merge launches software exchange program

Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare announced the launch of eFilm Software Exchange program at the 2008 RSNA show in Chicago.

Functioning as an online community, the program is intended to assist organizations to develop, distribute, and sell applications related to the eFilm Workstation. Merge will host the exchange at a new Web site, www.efilmapps.com, and will showcase any applications that are created by the company and third-party developers in the areas of advanced visualization, improved workflow, and integration of various tools.

Participants would be encouraged to either share their idea as freeware or promote solutions as a commercial application, with an intent to benefit financially from their initiative, using the Merge HIS/RIS software development kit as a jumping off place, according to the Milwaukee-based firm.

Merge will work with software developers to certify each application and integration prior to distribution and sale, ensuring that regulatory and other industry guidelines are met.
