Frost forecasts EHR, clinical trial application convergence

Economic and legislative trends in North America and Europe are creating a suitable environment to unify work processes in clinical care and clinical research areas, according to market research firm Frost & Sullivan.

The San Jose, CA-based firm foresees an evolution toward integration of electronic patient records and clinical trials that will affect stakeholders in the clinical research and clinical care areas.

Frost & Sullivan said that the value attached to clinical care and research convergence in terms of increased efficiency, time savings, and cost-effectiveness will bolster widespread industry efforts to achieve convergence of electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical trials. The company said it projected this integration to occur over the next five to 10 years.
