Philips partners with Dutch university

Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, will collaborate with VU University Medical Center (VUMC) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to jointly research new multimodality imaging technologies.

Both Philips and VUMC will work on the development and validation of next-generation medical imaging procedures, with initial projects focusing on nuclear imaging (especially PET) and optical imaging techniques, Philips said.

For these modalities, the joint research projects will explore disease-specific contrast agents and tracers, and develop software for quantitative image analysis and data presentation, according to the company. Philips and VUMC are also currently developing research programs for other imaging modalities.
