NCPIC to provide PET breast scans for uninsured

Northern California PET Imaging Centers (NCPIC) has unveiled plans to use its recently purchased PEM Flex Solo II PET scanner from San Diego-based Naviscan PET Systems for uninsured breast cancer patients.

The initiative is funded by a grant from the Sacramento affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

PEM Flex Solo II uses a PET technology that Naviscan calls positron emission mammography (PEM) to allow physicians to visualize and characterize breast lesions as small as 2 mm in size.
