Philips Healthcare has debuted a new version of its iE33 xMatrix cardiac ultrasound system.
Enhancements include the Andover, MA-based vendor's X5-1 transducer, designed to provide ergonomic benefits in adult echocardiograms. Other new features include the ability to utilize a single transducer for 2D and 3D imaging, near-instantaneous acquisition of 3D volumes, new 3D workflow tools, and visualization of color Doppler flow pattern during 3D exams, according to Philips.
The system's iRotate tool teams with the X5-1 probe to assist in obtaining challenging 2D views such as the apical two-chamber, Philips said. Instead of relying on manual rotation of the transducer, rotation is achieved electronically to maintain the best acoustical window, according to the firm.
The new iE33 xMatrix scanner also includes a 3D stress-echo package that can be incorporated with conventional 2D stress echo, Philips said.
