GE Healthcare has unveiled plans for major changes in its operations and among its executive leadership in Wisconsin.
The Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based company plans to merge its diagnostic imaging business in Waukesha with its clinical systems division in Wauwatosa and close its Lunar facility in Madison.
By June, GE will move Lunar's 150 employees and production to the former Datex-Ohmeda site in Madison and to GE's Tower Avenue plant in Milwaukee.
As for Waukesha and Wauwatosa, GE spokesman Brian McKaig told AuntMinnie.com that neither facility will close. Both sites will "stay the same in terms of production and product design" and be known as GE's Healthcare Systems division.
McKaig added that the "realignment is still being worked out." The plan, which is designed to increase the efficiency of GE's operations, is to have the consolidation in place by February 2. There will be no job losses from the merger of diagnostic imaging and clinical systems.
GE Healthcare has approximately 7,000 employees in Wisconsin, with the majority of them, some 5,000, in the greater Milwaukee area.
GE also announced that Mark Vachon, president and CEO of the diagnostic imaging unit, will lead GE Healthcare's Americas division in Waukesha. Omar Ishrak, president and CEO of GE's clinical systems unit, will head Healthcare Systems in Wauwatosa.
