(Booth 1729) Multimodality vendor GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., will demonstrate several ultrasound products, including the Logiq i and Logiq 7 scanners, as well as data management products and the company's Volume Imaging Protocol (VIP).

2007 11 02 12 19 18 706Logiq i is a laptop-sized 10-lb system designed to take ultrasound imaging to the patient bedside. With volume imaging capability, this system performs radiology, vascular, neonatal, breast, and musculoskeletal imaging at the point of care, according to the company. This scanner can also store raw ultrasound data and transmit it wirelessly to a workstation.

GE will also showcase a series of features such as Volume Imaging Protocol (VIP), a method of acquiring volume sweeps, then applying postacquisition reconstructions to reduce both scan times and the need for rescans.

The company's ViewPoint software is designed to manage diagnostic ultrasound data, and includes structured reporting for vascular and ob/gyn clinical settings. ViewPoint permits reporting and image archiving, and image capture and patient and measurement data for later analysis, according to the company.

On the Voluson E8 scanner, GE will feature new imaging tools and technology aimed at improving patient care, as well as addressing sonographer comfort. SonoVCAD (sonography-based volume computer-aided diagnosis) is an automated imaging tool intended to improve workflow by facilitating acquisition of volume images of fetal hearts.

And finally, look for GE to demonstrate the advanced image review and postprocessing capabilities of its Logiqworks ultrasound workstation.
