Ultrasonix Medical

(Booth 8542) Canadian ultrasound developer Ultrasonix Medical of Richmond, British Columbia, will highlight the 2.5.5 release of its Sonix OP/SP platforms.

The new release involves enhanced imaging, workflow improvements, and a new system transducer that includes EPI (extended pulse imaging) technology to facilitate imaging difficult-to-image patients. EPI is available on the C5-2/40 transducer.

Other capabilities that will be featured in the Ultrasonix booth include the introduction of the MC9-4 microconvex transducer, used for vascular access and ultrasound-guided nerve block applications. This product is under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Ultrasonix will also feature several complete systems in its RSNA booth. These systems employ an open PC architecture, which provides increased flexibility, performance, and reliability at a reduced cost, according to the company. The PC architecture also enables addition of new capabilities such as EPI software updates, and facilitates simple integration of third-party components such as wireless networking and real-time video streaming. The systems include advanced features such as panoramic imaging, spatial compounding, and 3D/4D imaging.
