Internet-based medical coding technology and services provider CodeRyte of Bethesda, MD, will demonstrate its new vascular interventional radiology (VIR) coding application.

CodeRyte's enhanced radiology coding platform uses language-based statistical Web technologies and natural language processing (NLP) technology to automatically code free-form physician dictations.

2006 11 06 15 38 11 706The coding tool features integrated anatomy tools with VIR coding and provides blind quality assurance reports to eliminate coder bias. Its reporting capabilities include problem coding patterns, reimbursable but uncoded procedures, coding engine quality, and evaluation and management (E/M) coding patterns for physicians and across practices.

The VIR application provides a fully HIPAA-compliant audit trail and can work in conjunction with an electronic medical record (EMR) system, according to CodeRyte.

The company said that the tool is currently available in the U.S., and is targeted toward interventional radiology practices.
