(Booth 8728) Xoran of Ann Arbor, MI, will bring to the RSNA show its MiniCAT and xCAT scanners, compact units designed for specialized applications.

2007 10 18 16 15 56 706MiniCAT is designed for use in the evaluation of sinuses and temporal bone studies, and is capable of creating images for surgical planning and image guidance. A MiniCAT package includes a 3D viewing workstation, radiation shielding, and regulatory compliance package, and the system has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Look for Xoran to tout the system's lower radiation dose as compared with standard CT scanners, and image datasets are compatible with the DICOM 3.0 protocol. MiniCAT is scheduled for CE Marking and ISO certification by the end of 2007 and will be available for sale in Europe in 2008.

The other Xoran CT scanner, xCAT ENT, serves as a portable sinus/skull base CT scanner for the operating room. In the OR, updated images can be used for surgical guidance.

The scanner's target market is ENT and head and neck surgeons, ambulatory surgical centers, and radiology departments in hospitals. xCAT ENT is currently available in the U.S., and Xoran anticipates that the system will receive the CE Mark and ISO certification by the end of 2007, with availability in Europe in 2008.
