RSNA attendance slips slightly in 2017

Attendance at RSNA 2017 dipped 2.5% in comparison with the 2016 meeting, but it was still higher than at the 2015 edition of the conference.

A total of 52,657 people attended RSNA 2017, compared with 54,037 at RSNA 2016. Total professional registration reached 26,966, which included 2,013 who attended only the RSNA's virtual meeting. In comparison, there were 26,988 professional attendees at RSNA 2016, including 1,813 online-only attendees.

In all, 6,025 people attended the RSNA 2017 virtual meeting, where they received on-demand access to 134 live-streamed and on-demand courses, as well as plenary session and other meeting content, according to the RSNA. The virtual meeting is still available for on-demand access through February 28.

There was an increase in vendor activity at the meeting, however.

The RSNA estimated that the meeting brought $130 million to the city of Chicago. RSNA 2018 will be held November 25-30 in Chicago, and the meeting's theme will be "Tomorrow's Radiology Today."
