Adaptix brings new x-ray source to RSNA 2017

Oxford, U.K.-based Adaptix plans to showcase its novel flat-panel x-ray source for portable low-dose 3D digital tomosynthesis at the RSNA 2017 annual meeting.

Each Adaptix flat-panel x-ray source features an array of cold cathode field emitters, which are sealed into a unit with a power supply. Each field emitter then generates a conelet of x-rays. The proprietary system also is designed to address the problem of high-voltage switching, allowing for each x-ray emission to be addressed and individually controlled.

The goal is to achieve more definitive diagnoses through digital tomosynthesis with the option of mobile 3D imaging at the bedside.

The x-ray source is complemented by Adaptix's image reconstruction software, which was developed with researchers from Oxford University's Mathematical Institute.
