By AuntMinnie.com staff writers

November 27, 2012 -- Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions has introduced its omniTRAX Active Tracker patient tracking system at the 2012 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

Visible under CT and ultrasound, the active patient tracker provides clinicians automatic image registration of fused images for real-time, uninterrupted navigation using previously acquired CT volume datasets.

The two-part system consists of omniTRAX, a disposable locating device, and a reusable general-purpose electromagnetic sensor. Designed for use with the GE Healthcare's Logiq E9 XDclear ultrasound system, omniTRAX produces multiple fixed reference points in a precise 3D array for quick and accurate registration of patient anatomy, according to the company.
